I always thought
that fresh things were better
than saved things, but now
I think I’ll buy
some zip-lock bags
and call it a day
because
my sloppy eagerness,
whispered words,
and green lights kisses
make me
feel anything
but okay.

I always thought

I think this poem could be completely misunderstood--if one were to think it was about sexual purity of something of that nature. It's not. Though "green light kisses" does sort of communicate something stronger than I wanted. Oh well. I liked the line.

ReplyDeleteI didn't think it sexual. I second Daniel - felt more like a strange nostalgia of ideas never put into words.
